Effective October 30, 2026. This policy covers the Descaled website (descaled.org) and the Descaled mobile app.
What we collect
We only collect information you choose to send us:
- Prayer requests. Your name, email address and the request you write. These are delivered to our prayer team by Formspree, the form service we use.
- Trip notifications. If you sign up to hear about the yearly fellowship trip, your name and email are stored by Brevo, our email service, so we can let you know when the next trip is announced. Every email includes an unsubscribe link.
- App notifications. If you allow notifications in the app (for example, to hear when Descaled goes live), your phone's notification ID and basic device details (such as iPhone model, iOS version and language) are stored by OneSignal, the notification service we use, so we can send you those alerts. You can turn each type of notification on or off in the app (Profile), or all of them in your iPhone's Settings > Notifications > Descaled.
- Daily Question and leaderboard (optional). You can play without an account. If you choose to sign in with Apple, Apple gives us an account ID and an email address (which can be a private relay address that hides your real email). You choose the name and, if you like, a profile photo shown on the leaderboard. We store your name, photo, points, streak and quiz answers with Supabase, our database service. Your name, photo, points and streak are visible to other app users on the leaderboard, and this week's top 10 may be posted in the Descaled Discord community. You can change your name or photo, or delete your account and everything in it, anytime from the Profile page in the app.
- Reports. If you report someone on the leaderboard, we store the report so we can review it.
- Live Notes. Notes you write in the app are saved only on your phone. We never see them.
What we don't do
- No passwords. An account is optional and only used for the leaderboard.
- No advertising, and we do not sell or share your information with anyone for marketing.
- The app does not track you across other apps or websites, and it does not access your location, contacts, camera or photos.
Links to other services
Buttons for YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Spotify, Apple Music, Apple Podcasts, Amazon and our merch store open those services, which have their own privacy policies.
Your choices
You can ask us to delete anything you have sent us, or unsubscribe from trip emails at any time. To reach us, send a message through our contact form and let us know what you need.
Children
Descaled is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update it on this page with a new effective date.
